SOUND THE TRUMPETS
OUR VISION, MISSION AND CORE VALUES
Vision
We are an evangelistic and missionary community committed to become families empowered by the Holy Spirit to renew the face of the earth.
Mission
We strive for holiness of life, as we commit to renew the temporal order through our work with the poor, our work for justice, and our work for life.
We are a servant of the Church, working to renew her children through every generation and throughout the world, until the Lord returns once again.
Statement of Philosophy
CFC-FFL adheres to a set of beliefs and ideals form which flow its Christian attitudes, values and behavior, as well as its programs, teachings and approaches to Christian renewal within the context of family relationships.
WE BELIEVE in marriage as an insoluble institution as taught by our Lord Jesus Christ (Mt 19:6)
WE BELIEVE that God created marriage primarily for love between man and woman, and for the procreation and proper rearing of children.
WE BELIEVE that God created man and wife with equal personal worth and dignity.
WE BELIEVE that God ordained order in the family by giving the man the role as head of the family and the woman as helpmate and support, which roles best express their complementarily.
WE BELIEVE in the inalienable and irreplaceable right and responsibility of parents to educate their children.
WE BELEVE that children need to be educated in essential human and Christian values for them to become responsible and mature members of society.
WE BELIEVE that the family, in practicing the gospel message, shares in the life and mission of the Church --- through prayers, evangelization, and service to others, especially the poor.
WE BELIEVE that Christian family renewal can best to be achieved by inviting Jesus to be the Lord of our homes, by allowing the power of the Holy Spirit to lead our family lives, and through the full use of all spiritual gifts at our disposal.
Our Core Values describe who we are and what we are called to do in the world. They provide parameters and constant guideposts in our moving on in our life and mission.
- Centered on Christ
- Evangelistic and missionary
- Focused on the family
- Being community
- Living a preferential option for the poor
- Exercising servant leadership
- Being a servant to the Church
WHY SOUND THE TRUMPETS?
CFC-FFL embodies a movement to restore the authentic CFC charism of family life renewal and evangelization. In this regard, CFC-FFL has sounded this call by sounding the trumpets. We are announcing something very important and crucial, and we want people to hear and learn. What is meant by sounding the trumpets?
First, it is call to praise God. “Give praise with blasts upon the horn” (Ps 150:3a). God is the be-all and end-all of our life and mission in CFC. Second, it is a reminder to honor God as His people. Just like the Israelites, we are to “keep a sabbath rest, with a sacred assembly and with the trumpet blasts as a reminder” (Lv 23:24). We are Catholics and we celebrate the Lord ’s Day. We are Christian families and we rest from our labors and spend time with each other. We are CFC and we have our prayers assemblies. Third, it is a call to joy in being God’s people. “With trumpets and the sound of the horn shout with joy to the King, the Lord.” (Ps 98:6). With our covenant and as God’s people, we understand that we are privileged to be part of a community. We live
our life in common with our brethren. Fourth, it points us to our mission of liberation. Just as the Israelites celebrated the jubilee year, we too are exhorted to “let the trumpet resound; on this, the Day of Atonement, the trumpet blast shall re-echo throughout your land. Fifth, it is a reminder that in our mission we are engaged in spiritual warfare. It is blowing the horns that we are able to defeat our enemies, just as Gideon and his 300 men were able to do, defeating a mighty army (Jgs 7:19-22). Sixth, it is a reminder that we are in the end times, which makes our work even more urgent. “Blow the trumpet in Zion, sound the alarm on my holy mountain! Let all who dwell in the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming” (Jl 2:1). Seventh, it is an assurance that we who are faithful will rise victorious in Christ. “For the Lord himself, with a word of command, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God, will come down from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Thus we shall always be with the Lord.” (1 Thes 4:16-17).
THE TRUMPETS HAVE BEEN SOUNDED. THE RESTORATION OF GOD’S PEOPLE HAS BEGUN. LET ALL RALLY TO THE LIFE AND MISSION OF CFC-FLL, AND PROCLAIM CHRIST UNTIL HE RETURNS ONCE AGAIN. PRAISE THE LORD. HALLELUJAH!
