Our Parish

The parish of the Our Lady of the Annunciation was formally established in 1992 by His Eminence Jaime Cardinal L. Sin, D.D. who also installed Fr. Jaime M. Zurbano, Jr. as the first parish priest. The name Our Lady of the Annunciation was suggested by Msgr. Arsenio Bautista.

Before the establishment of the said parish, the faithful used to go to church of San Nicholas de Tolentino, as parish run by the Augustinian Recollect Fathers. The chapels under their jurisdiction such as the Jem 9, Landcom, and Banlat chapels, and the Saint Vincent Seminary chapel of the Vincentian Fathers. In 1991, with the Cardinals permission, Saint Charbel chapel was designated their main place of worship by Msgr. Josefino Ramirez, V.G. and installed Fr. Jun Zurbano as chaplain.

As the parish began to grow and to set out on its journey as a community of Christian towards the fullness of the Kingdom of God, Saint Charbel chapel could no longer fully accommodate the growing number of people. This led to a decision of the parish pastoral council through the guidance of their committed pastor Fr. Jun, to build a new place of worship. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the help of the parishioners, a new site was found at Saint Dominic 3 Subdivision along Mindanao Avenue. Fifty percent of the total land area measuring 1,111 square meter was generously donated by the Geraldez Family and the other fifty pecent was given by the Archdiocese of Manila through His Eminence Jaime Cardinal L. Sin. The population of the parish is now approximately 60,000 covering 35 subdivisions and villages in Barangay Tandang Sora.

The construction of the new parish church formally started with a ground-breaking ceremony on October 1991 officiated by His Eminence, Cardinal Sin. It was not until February 1993, however, when the foundation and the main structures were started by Architect Luis Nicanor Aguirre IV and Associates, Engineer Benjie Reyes and the TERP Construction Company.

Today, this church dedicated to Our Lady of the Annunciation, stands as a symbol of the peoples faith in God and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God. The people also consider it as their living spiritual legacy to their children and their children's children.
